Building and Automation Maintenance Manager


JOB SUMMARY

  • This role is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and performance of all building systems, material handling equipment, and specialized systems such as the ANCRA unloading system. This includes ensuring the functionality of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems, as well as managing the repair maintenance of electric forklifts, pallet jacks, and automated material handling equipment and systems. The role also leads a team of maintenance technicians and collaborates with vendors to ensure all facilities and equipment are kept in optimal working condition to ensure safety, efficiency, and reliability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of essential building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and other critical infrastructure. Ensure these systems operate efficiently and comply with all relevant safety and environmental standards.
  • Supervise the maintenance, repair, and performance optimization of electric forklifts, pallet jacks, and related material handling equipment. Ensure equipment is safe to use, performs to specifications, and undergoes routine inspections to prevent unexpected failures.
  • Manage and oversee the operation and maintenance of the ANCRA unloading system, ensuring that the equipment is fully operational and performing according to operational standards. Troubleshoot and repair the system as needed, coordinating with vendors for complex repairs or upgrades.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive preventive maintenance schedule for building systems, material handling equipment (electric forklifts, pallet jacks), and specialized systems (ANCRA unloading system). Ensure that routine maintenance is conducted to extend the lifespan of all equipment and minimize downtime.
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of maintenance technicians. Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide guidance and training to enhance their technical capabilities, particularly with electric-powered material handling equipment and automated systems.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests, diagnose, and resolve issues with building systems, material handling equipment, and the ANCRA unloading system. Lead repair efforts to minimize downtime and avoid disruptions to operations.
  • Manage relationships with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and services. Negotiate contracts, track service performance, and ensure high-quality, cost-effective service delivery for both routine and emergency maintenance.
  • Assist in developing and managing the maintenance budget. Track expenses related to building systems, forklifts/pallet jacks, the ANCRA unloading system, and other equipment to ensure costs are kept within allocated budgets.
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety regulations and industry standards, including OSHA requirements and local building codes. Ensure that all equipment, particularly electric forklifts and pallet jacks, are maintained according to safety standards to prevent accidents and ensure operational reliability.
  • Monitor energy consumption across building systems and material handling equipment. Implement strategies to optimize energy usage, reduce waste, and promote sustainability in facility operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and compliance reports. Provide senior management with regular updates on the status of facilities, equipment, and ongoing projects
