Job Description

Payroll Specialist

We are seeking an experienced payroll specialist to join our growing organization. In this position, you will record and process payroll, ensuring accurate and timely processing. A keen attention to detail and organization is a must.

Reports To: Payroll Supervisor

Position: Non-Exempt

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Multi-client payroll processing experience
  • 5000+ employee payroll processing experience
  • End-to-end payroll processing experience
  • Experience with ADP payroll systems, experience with ADP reporting a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of quality control and auditing standards
  • A desire to continually learn
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with partners and associates.

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of payroll processing experience in a high-volume payroll operation. End to end payroll experience a plus
  • Requires a clear understanding of payroll, benefits and taxation and an understanding of applicable legislative requirements
  • Ability to resolve issues and provide superior customer service to internal and external partners
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, technically and effectively with customers and internal partners
  • Good analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, intermediate Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Bilingual is an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Processes production payrolls including entering exceptions, garnishments, and other earnings or deductions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll impacting changes, tax forms, payments and payroll processing for associates
  • Reviews data imported from time and attendance systems to ensure accurate transfer of hours worked and pay owed.
  • Responsible for quality control and auditing to ensure accuracy and low error or defect percentage
  • Create, update and review standard operating procedures and performs quarterly document reviews

  • Creates, cancels and reissues manual payroll checks or manual loads to payroll debit cards as required in case
  • Have an "I own it" attitude about deliverables and projects from start to finish
  • Proactively manage quarter, and year-end payroll auditing and processing
  • Think and act ahead, spot opportunities and act accordingly and proactively contribute to process improvements of payroll errors or terminations. Stops payment or reversals of live checks or direct deposits.
  • Monthly and Quarterly DOL and BLS Reports
  • Other payroll related duties and reporting
  • Performs additional duties as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Works in an office setting and generally sedentary, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
  • May be required to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 25 pounds.
