CDL drivers typically operate tractor trailers. They're responsible for transporting goods and safely operating heavy vehicles with a capacity of more than 26,000 pounds. They spend long days and nights on the road.

A typical day in the life of a CDL driver might include:
• Communicating with their dispatcher to receive instructions on their route
• Adhering to traffic laws, paying particular attention to those that change as the driver crosses state lines
• Inspecting the trailer thoroughly before, during, and after each trip
• Logging driving hours in accordance with federal regulations.
